Many people believe that they are using a safer, less toxic cleaner with Simple Green and why shouldn't they, it does claim, after all, to be nontoxic and a safer alternative to other cleaners, but is it really? I must tell you that nothing could be farther from the truth, check out this article at commondreams.org-

1) I work for Simple Green - we are a small (under 60 employees) company - certainly not a corporate giant.
ReplyDelete2) Simple Green has been on the market for 35 years, long before the term "green" meant what it means today. The name came from the dark green color that made it "simple" for users to dilute properly just by the color of the solution. Simple Green has been used in industry to replace some extremely nasty chemicals such as toluene, benzene, methyl ethyl ketone, trichloroethylene, stoddard solvent, etc. It may not be the greenest of the green by today's standards, but it was revolutionarily-"green" in its day.
3) The independent lab test data proving that Simple Green is non-toxic has been scrutinized and accepted by OSHA, EPA, CPSC, and many end-user companies around the world. Toxicity is DOSE related. Aspirin is toxic in high enough dose. The amount of butyl cellosolve in Simple Green is very small and Simple Green is orally non-toxic by Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
3) Simple Green labels and Material Safety Data Sheets comply with all the laws of the land. Much of the test data and calculations for the non-toxicity and biodegradability of Simple Green are given on its MSDS - which is and always has been publicly available. Go to www.simplegreen.com and click on "MSDS/IDS" at the bottom of the screen.
4) Today, Sunshine Maker's Inc. makes 9 Green Seal certified Simple Green products. Five of them are under the Simple Green Naturals product line sold at Lowe's.
5) Jeani, you disparage us with a 4-year old newspaper article and you have your own green product to sell. Why are you any more trustworthy a resource than Simple Green?
